The Waiting Begins
Apr 13th
Finally managed to save a bit of money, get some confidence into the “confirm order” button clicking finger and ordered myself a Canon 20D from technikdirekt. Heres hoping it arrives safe & sound in the hands of some friendly DHL employee.

Been a while since I’ve seen this amazingly funny work of photoshoppage. Bask in it’s greatness.
Me? Absentee?
Mar 11th
I’ve been rather lax with the posting over the last few days… Reason is I had to do another lap of the country starting Monday afternoon. Up to Galway, further up to Donegal, across to Dublin, down to Carlow and back to Cork. As a result I’m completely knackered. Beer is the prescribed medication however. I’ve got a specific subject on which to have a healthy rant, watch this space.
Nobel Peace Prize
Feb 25th
Nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize have been announced, among the nominees are the Pope and Bono. Yes, because clearly those two people have made an equally significant difference to the world which would merit such an award.
One of the above is God’s right hand man, the other believes he is God. Lets hope the Nobel committe can distinguish the importance of the difference between the two.
The big 100
Jan 27th
Congrats to Eoin for (finally) reaching the big 100 pub reviews. I think we need a few drinks to celebrate!

1. The capacity to acquire and apply knowledge, especially toward a purposeful goal.
2. An individual’s relative standing on two quantitative indices, namely measured intelligence, as expressed by an intelligence quotient, and effectiveness of adaptive behavior.
Some have it, some dont. Others have it but ignore it at crucial times.
Oxford gone erotic?!?
Sep 7th
The new Oxford dictionary places great emphasis on sex? So it seems from this mornings Ray D’Arcy show on Today FM. Poor old innocent Ray, even pronounced “Poontang”, just one of the new words to hit the big book, wrongly.
Absentee returned
Aug 28th
I’ve been on holidays, 2544.6 miles around France to be exact. I shall return with something meaningful very shortly. In the mean time, keep an eye on my diary of a madman for the whole holiday scéal.
M.I.A.

Long time no update. Spent all my online and therefore free time on ebay lately looking for a GPS handset. Now that I’ve found and bought a Garmin V, I’ll have a bit more time to spend on other things, such as this blog for example.
I’ll be back after the Bubblegum Run.
The woes of buying from Soundstore
May 17th
Lots of people already know that you’re asking for trouble if you buy from soundstore / compustore. Not only are their prices (for computers & peripherals anyway) way above the average, but their staff seem to have been educated in the Adolf Hitler School of Sales and Customer Support.
I have a powerpoint integrated dishwasher at home and since I moved in, some 4 months ago now, it hasn’t worked for at least half of that time. It’s as tempermental as a bus full of teenagers and twice as annoying. Initally, I contacted Soundstore to get a technician out. So far that same technician has been at the house no less than 5 times, and has left each time in the knowledge that the appliance is working.
Rang Soundstore on the 12th of May and was assured by some generic sales dope that the manufacturers would be contacted and I would be given an update on the progress of any fix. Surprise surprise, no call back.
I braved the rush hour traffic today and visited the shop to find out what the hell was taking so long. Yet another of those utterly useless service calls have been booked! Apparently there was no call put in to Powerpoint. Again, I’m not exactly surprised. All this isn’t what annoyed me so much in my less than 5 minute stay in the store. It was the plain rude and ignorant way I was treated by the staff. The person I was talking to (sadly I didn’t get her name) talked over me several times when I was trying to explain the situation, proceeded to call someone on the phone as I was still trying to explain the situation and through all this, never looked at me once. She did manage to maintain a healthy “why should I give a fuck?” attitude towards my situation however.
I honestly don’t know how that shower of absolute morons and ignorant bastards are still in business.
Right, so far we’ve had 5 service calls and I’ve had to call up there twice. Lets see how long it takes to get the damn thing replaced.
