For anyone interested in spending what could be an enjoyable day in a wildlife park shooting animals (in a good way of course), be at the front entrance of Fota Wildlife Park tomorrow morning at 11am. Bring your zoom.
Following that dry spell, I’ve been re-acquainting myself with some long lost friends. Namely the 50mm f1.8 and 30mm f1.4. Both lovely primes, one about a third of the price of the other. I’d been pondering on selling the 30mm and trading up to a Canon 35mm f1.4L. Somehow it made sense to shell out the €700 I’d need to upgrade, what with the possibility of a full frame DSLR in my near future. The need to buy good lenses, invest money in good glass and all that. The shopping list in my head keeps getting longer and there isn’t any food on this list…
For the moment, I’ll keep fiddling around with my 30mm f1.4…

Since moving into the new house, I’ve been having somewhat of a photo dry spell. There was so much to do, to think about and some bits & pieces to worry about. Add to that the fact that when we eventually did move in, the chargers for my camera mysteriously disappeared, leaving me with 4 almost dead batteries. There were too many unprocessed photos sitting on my laptop and as per usual, why do something today that you can put off until tomorrow?
I just didn’t have the get up and go to get up and go. Ah well, somewhere in the distance I hear violins. So, flicking through a little bit too much of Chromasia for my own good, I became enthused to get to one of the many beaches close to home and shoot beach rubbish; Something I haven’t done in quite a while.
So, batteries charged (in more ways than one) and back on the horse… Maybe. Let’s see what happens over the next few days…
It’s that time of year again! It doesn’t seem like a year has passed since the last Peoples Photography in Dublin but it has! It’s going to be pretty much the same setup this year as last year, including a lot of the same prints. I’ve currently got everything crossed that Photobox can deliver the rest of an order I made (for all my 20×16 prints) last week and that my Bags Unlimited order arrives on time. Possibly a lot to ask, but it worked out in perfect time last year so I’m hoping for a repeat miracle.
I suppose the final thing I can say on the matter is, if you’re around Dublin city next Saturday or Sunday (the 25th and 26th), call up to St. Stephens Green to view some photo greatness. Hopefully some of that greatness will be mine!

Recently, courtesy of Danny, my financial controller and I spent a night on Valentia Island in Kerry. I’ve wanted to get down there for what seems like years so it was nice to get a perfectly beautiful sunny day to take advantage of. Alot more photos coming, including a 160 image multi-row panorama, which if processed correctly, will become a 10ft wide photo on my living room wall!
