It's a great choice really. I've the 5D and it's fantastic. My 5D has got drenched plenty of times, covered in all sorts of dirt, banged about a bit and no problems - it is fairly weather proof.

Faster fps would be nice, but since many of my shots are crumbly old buildings, it's not such a big issue for me (I wouldn't mind it for some of my bird shots, though)

If you could resist temptation for another few months, Canon will probably release a replacement for the 5D which will probably add a dust-remover and better high-ISO capability.

On the other hand, why wait?

Speaking as a freakishly lucky gadget loving person ... I'd say get the the MkIII mate ...

It is a bit of a beast though ... I've noticed it does less for you than the 20D ... I was out with some of the gang on Sunday on the train trip and noticed a lot of shots did not come out the way I wanted ... so I suspect this was user error and you need to get used to using it at bit ... at least that's what I'm hoping !

Did you chat with Danny ?

If the two fo you are going to be in Valentia then I may need to bring the 20d ... as no doubt the 1D will be taken away from me most of the time ;-)

My desire for a 5d is becoming a bit of an obsession, I love the clarity of these shots Ryan, not a bit of noise. You're making it worse!! Ahhhh!

Lovely photos - such sharpness!

Remember that even if you win a small amount on the lottery, say €2M, you could still buy a 1DM3, a few gorgeous lenses, a studio set and still have money left over for a holiday home or two and 10 years of Sleazyjet flights out to them. Heck, get yourself 3 1D bodies then you won't have to worry about swapping lenses all the time.

Good luck!!
