with the introduction of the internet shops in cork and the rest of ireland need to wake up it wil take just one to open a massive store selling at internet prices then you wil see the rip off irish shops drop their prices especially those dealing in cameras and electronic goods

Couldn't agree more regarding camera shops in Cork. Very poor stock levels and selection, extremely expensive, no competition and self serving advice. The only time your going to use these shops is if you need something urgently, in which case you'll probably find they don't have it.

You do realise that the 3 or 4 camera shops in Cork are owned and stocked by 2 companies (Cameraworld and McSweeneys)? I had the same issue buying filters/lenshoods/memory cards. Because they all revert to their own central warehouses, they all will give you the same answers. It's funny to hear the different excuses they make though!

Canada isnt as bad as rip off Ireland... BUT... theres only one store here here in all of Toronto thats authorised to sell the pro line of Canon gear. Now 99% of my kit are L series lens.. and I have a few bodies to match... Because they know they can charge pretty much what they want, a lot of their stuff is significantly overpriced, hence I also watch Ebay... I now import from a US store and resell via ebay to fellow Canadians here... I can cover the cost of customs and make a little profit, at a price lower than that charged by the TO store. Ther only advantage is that if I absolutely need to have anything for the studio, the TO store provides next day delivery.

I'm assuming you know that Canon has an off-shoe ttl cord? Just curious, have you ever considered buying a printer and printing your own?
