It’s been exactly one week since I spent wads of virtual cash on a spankering new Canon 20D. Technikdirekt advised me, to my utter dismay, that my order would not be shipped for 2-3 weeks. This of course meant that my planned long weekend photo-trek would be an utterly non-existant experience.
Happy then I was when I checked my gmail this afternoon to find an email in German notifying me that my order has been shipped. At least I think that’s what it was telling me. My ability to understand the German language is at an all-time low. 3-5 days is what I’ve been advised by DHL, whom to my utter disgust also informed me that due to the shipping method used by Technikdirekt, my order will be handled by An Póst when it reaches Irish shores. Given my horrible history with digital cameras & the Irish postal service, if I don’t have my camera by this time next week I’ll be screaming bloody murder in their direction.
In a related matter; what’s the bloody point of having a tracking number if it can’t be used to track?
I’m in the same boat. I ordered the 20D last week and after sending them confirmation of my CC and identity I got the same email. Looks like your order will probably be on the same pallet that’s travelling by road from Germany. Maybe a peasant is pulling it..
Meanwhile, you’re right, the tracking number doesn’t work! I tried it on dhl.ie …
Feck Donncha, I thought you’d have gotten your camera ages ago. Didn’t you order it weeks ago? Pity they sent it out really, it would have been a good excuse to head over to Germany for the long weekend
Nah, 7dayshop screwed the order up really badly. I have the bones of an anti-7dayshop rant completed but I have to get around to fleshing it out before posting it.
Just one warning to anyone who reads this.. Avoid 7dayshop.com like the plaque!

I bought some tees from tshirthumor.com last Wednesday and was expecting the shipment to take 6-8 weeks, because… well, they said it would. They arrived this morning, and not only that, I didn’t get the oft-standard “pay us this extra figure, which we just made up, or you’re not getting the package”. I love it when that happens.
