Wayne O Donoghue of Ballyedmond has just been charged with the manslaughgter of 11 year old Robert Holohan.
If the rumors are anything to go by, 20 year old O’Donoghue had the boy in a headlock that quite obviously went tragically wrong. Apparently O’Donoghue confessed to a friend before calling the Gardai and asking them to meet with him and his parents at the family home.
It was an accident.Wayne didn’t mean to do it
I think the whole of the country knows that at this stage. A very unfortunate and gruesome accident. I’ll find it interesting to wait and see if the judge he’s up before will take this into account and be in any way leniant.
I feel sad for the family of Robert who have had their beautiful boy taken away from them.
I also feel enormous compassion for Wayne, as I do not believe that he in anyway meant to take away Roberts life.
Both the O’Donoghue and Holoihan family have so much pain to deal with.
I hope that the Holihan family learn to forgive what has happened as Jesus would want.
And I hope that Wayne can come deal with the realisation of the damage he has inflicted on both families involved.
God would never give you something, that he knows you couldnt deal with.
news just in, he was acqitted of murder guilty of manslaughter. I have been attending the trial iver the past few weeks. If i was to describe the incident in one word- it would be tragedy. my heart went out to both families. it was a freak accident, something he never intended to do.two sets of families are ruined- the holohans have lost a beautiful son- but effectively so have the o donoghue family. he is 21 yrs of age- and his life will never be the same again.
I must say the Media coverage opf this case was absolutely scandalous. in front of me i have a report of the sentencing of a 21 year old man for the stabbing of a 17 yr old boy, who was a father to death. the report covers agrand total of 75 words. Was this young worth so little in relation to Robert’s
