So 67% of people surveyed oppose the visit to Ireland of President George W Bush (Irish Examiner, May 29).
Given the widespread anti-war sentiment in the country, this should come as no surprise. Our Government will of course convey our feelings to Mr Bush.
The Taoiseach will no doubt feel a tad uncomfortable about withdrawing an invitation already accepted, but the people have spoken and this will surely be good enough for the American president, that purveyor of democracy to the Arab world and all points east.
